LSU Graduate Student Ingrid Lindblad Wins 2024 ANNIKA Award Presented by Stifel
CARLSBAD, Cal., May 21, 2024 – LSU Graduate Student and the world’s top-ranked female
amateur golfer, Ingrid Lindblad, was announced as the winner of the coveted ANNIKA Award
presented by Stifel today, recognizing the most outstanding female NCAA Division I college
golfer for the 2023-24 season. The announcement was made today by Hall-of-Famer Annika
Sorenstam and Steve Burkowski, Golf Channel Host.
Lindblad, the top-ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, NCAA rankings, and
Clippd rankings, earned her name on the ANNIKA Award with her stellar final year at LSU.
With four wins in the 2023-2024 season, including a Regional win, Lindblad has a total of 15
collegiate wins throughout her five years, now holding the SEC Career Wins Record. In
addition to her many victories, she captured a top 5 spot in every tournament this season by
shooting even or under par in every round. After being on the ANNIKA Award Watch List
for four years in a row, Lindblad can now say she is an ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel
winner and the first Swedish player named to the Award.
As a result of winning the 2024 ANNIKA Award Presented by Stifel, Lindblad receives an
exemption to compete in the 2024 Amundi Evian Championship, one of the LPGA Tour’s five
major championships.
“I’m so happy.” said Lindblad when receiving the award. “I feel like I've worked hard for this and
this was one of the reasons I came back for my fifth year, so it feels good to kind of close my
college career out, and I'm very thankful for this award.”
“I think the first time I played in something with one of Annika’s events was in 2014 when I
played the Junior Am for the ANNIKA Invitational for Europe.” continued Lindblad. “Then the
next year I played the Annika Cup... and then played the European events and then the USA one
and then a couple years ago we (LSU) played the (ANNIKA) Intercollegiate so I feel like I've
kind of taken the Annika journey a little bit.”
“This year’s winner is amazing just like all the other nine winners (of the ANNIKA Award).”
said Annika. “This is the 10th year we are celebrating this and obviously I want to thank Stifel
for their support. I’m super excited and happy for Ingrid.”
Talking to Ingrid, she continues "It’s been exciting for us to just follow your journey to see how
you’ve grown as a player and as a person. Obviously now you have some great things coming up
with turning pro at some point, but I'm very happy for you and with what you have done on the
course and also what you stand for as a character amongst your peers... and glad to see a Swede
on here (the ANNIKA Award). There are some wonderful names on this trophy and all the
players on here have gone on to do some great things and I see the same thing for Ingrid.”
Coming off a win at the NCAA Division I Bryan Regional, Lindblad opened her first round of
the 2024 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship with a one-over, 73 and ended her final round
of stroke play with a two-over, 74 helping her team advance to the first round of match play.
This is the first time in NCAA Women’s Golf history, the Tigers made their way to match play.
GOLF Channel’s live coverage of the NCAA Golf Championships continues today and
tomorrow with the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships team match play competition,
followed by live coverage of the NCAA Men’s Golf Championships, May 27-29.
